Another busy week got underway for our Volvo FH540 with Fassi Hiab, this time carrying out a specialist machinery relocation from Holsworthy, Devon to Bristol.
The task involved transporting a substantial 5.5-tonne industrial guillotine from its previous location in Holsworthy before delivering and unloading the machine directly at its new premises in Bristol.
As the photographs show, access at the destination required careful positioning of the vehicle alongside the building. With the Hiab's outriggers deployed to provide a stable working platform, the Fassi loader crane was then used to lift the guillotine from the transport and carefully manoeuvre the machine towards the workshop entrance.
Using a lorry-mounted crane for operations like this provides an efficient solution for machinery relocations, combining specialist transport and lifting capability on the same vehicle. Rather than requiring a separate mobile crane at the destination, the equipment can be transported and then unloaded using the vehicle's own crane.
With a 5.5-tonne piece of industrial machinery and relatively restricted access at the Bristol premises, careful planning and controlled handling were essential throughout the final stage of the move.
Another successful machinery relocation completed by the Sparrow team, taking the guillotine from its starting point in Devon through to safe delivery and unloading in Bristol.
