Sparrow Liebherr manoeuvring restricted access for crane beam lift Newport

A Tight Squeeze for the LTM1060-3.1 in Rogerstone, Newport

SparrowNews

It was a case of making every inch count for one of our Liebherr LTM1060-3.1 60-tonne mobile cranes in Rogerstone, Newport in Monmouthshire last week.

The crane was called in to offload overhead crane beams inside an industrial building, but getting into position presented a challenge of its own. As the photographs show, there was very little clearance between the crane and the building entrance, requiring careful manoeuvring to get the LTM1060-3.1 sufficiently inside and correctly positioned for the lifting operation.

Restricted access projects like this are where careful planning and an experienced operator really come into their own. Once positioned, the LTM1060-3.1 provided the lifting capability required to safely unload and handle the overhead crane beams within the confines of the building.

The compact dimensions and manoeuvrability of the three-axle LTM1060-3.1 make it particularly useful for jobs where available working space is limited, while still providing a maximum lifting capacity of 60 tonnes.

Another successful specialist lift for the Sparrow team and proof that sometimes getting the crane into position can be just as interesting as the lift itself!
