Mini Crawler Crane Makes Light Work of Double Glazing Replacement

Our Maeda MC405C mini crawler crane was recently called upon to assist with a specialist glazing replacement at a care home, carefully lifting a new sealed double-glazed window unit into position at balcony level.

The operation involved removing and replacing a large glazed panel, with the new unit requiring controlled lifting to reach the elevated installation area. As the photographs show, the glass was handled using a specialist vacuum glass lifter, allowing the panel to be securely supported during the lifting operation.

With the crane positioned outside the building, its telescopic boom provided the reach needed to raise the glass to the balcony, where the installation team could carefully guide it into position from the scaffolding.

The Maeda MC405C is particularly well suited to this type of work. Its compact tracked design makes it a useful choice for restricted-access sites, while its telescopic boom and stabilising outriggers allow it to carry out lifting operations in locations where larger mobile cranes may not be practical.

The combination of the mini crawler crane and specialist glass lifting equipment provided an effective solution for handling the large, fragile window unit, with careful coordination between the crane operator and glazing team throughout the operation.

Another example of the versatility of Sparrow's mini crawler and spider crane hire fleet, supporting specialist glazing installations, building maintenance and restricted-access lifting projects across the UK.
