One of our Demag AC100/4L mobile cranes had a busy week in the South West recently, but this time the loads being lifted were cranes themselves.
The AC100/4L was deployed to assist with the erection and assembly of tower cranes, lifting the various sections and components into position as the structures gradually took shape.
As the photographs show, tower crane erection is a carefully coordinated operation. Individual mast sections, jib components and other assemblies need to be lifted to height and accurately positioned so the tower crane can be constructed safely and methodically.
With its combination of lifting capacity, reach and versatility, the 100-tonne Demag AC100/4L is well suited to this type of work. Its telescopic boom provides the height required to work alongside the growing tower crane, while the mobility of the crane makes it a flexible solution for construction and industrial sites.
There's also something particularly impressive about watching one crane being used to build another. Once its work is complete, the mobile crane can pack up and leave site, while the newly erected tower crane takes over the lifting duties for the next stage of the project.
