A project of a crane tree removal, that Sparrow Crane Hire was happy to be involved in, was when local tree surgeons, Ashley Beddis, Ben Andrews (pictured right) and ourselves came to the assistance of the Barn Owl Centre, Hempsted, Gloucester. A hazardous pollarded Ash tree believed to be about 100 years old, which was already coming to the end of its natural life, was directly in the path of the new aviary site and needed relocating within one of the Centre's wildflower meadows. The tree weighing over 6 ton was secured safely with chains before it was cut and lifted by Sparrow Crane Hire into its new safe location for nesting birds with its many natural nest holes, and will extend the use of the tree for another 15 years, even though its dead.
