Sparrow Crane Hire recently completed a complex operation at HMS Raleigh in Torpoint, successfully removing two redundant water heater storage tanks from within a confined building space and installing new ones.
The project, along with our partner, Dodd Ground, presented unique challenges due to the limited space and height restrictions of the site. However, the Sparrow Crane Hire team, meticulously planned and executed the operation due to their extensive expertise and specialised equipment which resulted in a smooth and efficient execution.
A Sparrow Crane Hiab was used to transport a compact JCB telehandler to the site and bring additional timbers, and utilising one of our state-of-the-art Tadano 2.040-1 Mobile Cranes, set up on outriggers, with standard lifting tackle being used and a load weight of 1t @ 20m.
A section of the building's roof was carefully removed to allow for the safe lifting of the tanks, from outside of the building, showcasing the team's commitment to safety and precision. Our team faced several challenges, including the need to manoeuvre the tanks from a vertical to horizontal position within a restricted space. Through our meticulous planning and the utilisation of specialised equipment, we were able to overcome these challenging obstacles seamlessly.
